The executive insights problem
In my people analytics career, I’ve noticed two persistent challenges—and they both have to do with providing C-suite executives with the insights they need to effectively manage the workforce.
Executives feel the first problem. Multi-million dollar decisions require quality analysis, but that analysis can take too long to create. Often, by the time the right dashboards are ready, the executive has had to make a decision based on best judgment rather than data and has moved on to new, equally urgent questions.
People analytics teams feel the second problem. Too often, they simply don’t have enough resources (time, people, bandwidth) to do all the bespoke, strategic analysis that executives need and deserve. Their time is often dominated by the routine, foundational aspects of people analytics.
Vee Boards use AI to offer a solution to both of those problems at once, and that’s why I’m so excited to introduce them to you in this post.
A sneak peek into generative AI-powered Vee Boards
Coming soon from Visier, Vee Boards are AI-augmented insight boards, laser-focused on specific issues of the highest priority to the C-suite. Each one is prebuilt and tailored to the top concerns of a specific executive or group of executives.
Since they’re augmented by generative AI, Vee Boards go far beyond what traditional dashboards can do. Here are three specific ways.
1. They stitch together the right data
“Just bring data”: that’s the philosophy behind Vee Boards. There’s no guesswork on the customer’s part. The People Cost Smartboard, for example, is generated using HR data from your HCM system and cost data from your ERP. Once that data is integrated into Visier, the Vee Board takes it from there. It knows exactly which data to analyze, present, and explain.
2. They find the signal in the noise
While Visier staff curate what goes into a Vee Board, the actual analysis is done by generative AI. It examines all the data that could potentially appear on the board, and does the heavy analysis: Of all the hundreds of subpopulations that contribute to a top-level metric, which are the ones to highlight? Where has change occurred, and is that change noteworthy? Is it changing in a good or bad direction?
It’s the AI that conducts mathematical analysis to look in all the nooks and crannies of the data and determine what should be brought to the executive’s attention.
3. They don’t just summarize, they recommend action
AI summaries are table stakes these days. The Smart Insights pane within Vee Boards is more than just a recap of the data in narrative format. It does what a human analyst would do:
It explains factors that have contributed to the current state
It draws attention to trends, patterns, and outliers
It makes intelligent suggestions about where the executive could focus if they want to have the biggest impact on KPIs

We take a “less is more” philosophy for the executive consumer. Each board takes the clearest, possible approach to guiding users through a logical progression of questions: What's the current performance state? Is there a problem or not? What factors are contributing most or least to the situation? Where's the best opportunity to intervene?

It helps them stay vigilant to make sure their capacity to deliver the talent the business needs is not eroding. The board covers KPIs related to employee movement, starts, exits, and helps the CHRO and their C-level peers pay special attention to managers and high performers.
Deliver executive-level insights with Vee Boards
Our intention with Vee Boards is to solve the two problems I mentioned earlier. Specifically, we hope to create impact for both people analytics teams and their C-suite stakeholders:
For executives: C-suite decision-making is incredibly challenging–especially where people are concerned. We want to arm execs with always-on guidance about how they can hit their targets, which is ultimately good for the business as a whole.
For people analytics teams: We hope Vee Boards will help people analytics teams scale their impact. We want even the smallest teams to be able to serve their executive populations with the kind of bespoke analysis and guidance that would otherwise be out of reach. Our Vision is that any analyst using Visier will be able to craft and distribute their own Vee Boards, further elevating the transformative impact of AI on the world of work.
Throughout the last decade, as I’ve worked to elevate the work of people analytics teams, the opportunity to deliver executive-level insights at scale has often seemed elusive.
Now, with the arrival of AI technology, we're seeing huge leaps in the depth and quality of insights we can produce automatically. It's been exciting to work with my team to explore these new possibilities and create a reliable, large-scale solution. As we launch these new features, I'm aware this is just the beginning.
