Visier People® Skills External Data

Application descriptions

Introduction

Visier People® Skills External Data helps organizations leverage the power of skills data to gain greater insight about their employees. Apply a skills lens to common people analytics workflows to understand where critical skills are located throughout your organization, such as which skills are being lost to attrition, are diverse or not, and more.

If you have acquired employee skills data through a third-party application such as Workday Skills Cloud or Gloat, or through an in-house IT initiative, Skills External Data allows you to onboard this data and add it seamlessly to all the metrics, business questions, and value already provided by Visier.

Visier People® Essentials is required as a prerequisite to purchasing Skills External Data.

What value is delivered?

Skills External Data is a collection of application elements that are designed to accommodate skills data captured by third-party applications and makes them available in the Visier People analytics experience, seamlessly. The unique value provided by Skills External Data is listed below:

  • Identify the Skills in Your Organization: Your organization may already have the critical skills it needs, but they may be in unusual or non-traditional places. Quickly identify and leverage the employees that have what you need for a special project or initiative, or redeploy talent to maximize employee productivity.

  • Optimize Management of Employees and Their Skills: Apply a skills lens on all employee-centric HR workflows, such as retention, compensation, diversity, and learning & development. Visier connects all employee data elements together, even if they come from different systems and sources.

  • Optimize Recruiting Strategy for Key Skills: When combined with requisition data elements in Visier People® Essentials or Visier® Talent Acquisition, you can review outcomes for key skills, such as the success rate and time to fill. With these insights, you can optimize your recruiting strategy.

  • Identify and Improve Skill Fit: Quickly identify the employees who lack the skills to be successful in their current roles. Take action to develop the essential skills they need to improve engagement, retention, and productivity.

  • Develop and Retain Employees: In addition to onboarding skills that employees have, Skills External Data also includes the ability to load each employee’s desired skills, or skill development goals. Use this to develop learning materials and opportunities to increase retention, engagement, and organizational capability.

What do I get with Visier People® Skills External Data and what do I need to provide?

With Visier People Skills External Data, you can access:

  • 1 new analytic object

  • 20+ additional metrics

  • 15+ additional concepts and dimensions

  • 1 new story/dashboard

With Skills External Data, you have the ability to access the analytical power of the skills data you already have by loading that data through a single, simple data file format. Visier experts will guide you through this data onboarding process.

To unlock the full potential of Skills External Data, we recommend providing the following data elements:

Employee Skill Metrics and Dimensions: Counts the total number of skills across your organization to create a complete inventory of your organization's capabilities.

Managed Position Skill Metrics and Dimensions: Associates the skills required to perform the duties of each position.

Acquired, Expected, and Desired Skills: Three independent but overlapping lenses on employee skills: the skills they have, the skills they need, and the skills they want.

Skill Fit Metrics: Calculates the difference between the skills each employee possesses and what they need. Identifies candidates for training and upskilling so they can be more productive in their roles.

Skill Movement Model: Visualizes how skills have changed in your organization or in a particular business unit through hires, attrition, and internal movement.
