Problems to be solved
  • As an HR / ESG leader, I need to disclose to the public our performance on managing our workforce to the world at large, through disclosures such as diversity, pay equity, health & safety, and learning & development.

    • Through the course of these public submissions over time, I need to ensure that we state our progress accurately. This is difficult when the underlying data in the transactional systems, such as the HCM or occupational health system, changes due to restatements, corrections, and late transactions.

    • Beyond losing credibility, this can create liability from auditors and regulators.

    • I need to ensure our public disclosures over time are consistent and defensible.

  • As a People Analyst, I create internal reporting for senior leaders and executives to show them their progress on human capital issues, such as diversity, retention, and engagement. These issues are often tied to the executives’ performance evaluation and bonus.

    • Due to timing and data governance issues, the underlying transactional data often changes due to restatements, corrections, or late transactions. 

    • Showing executives metrics that change value due to these timing issues undermines our credibility among our executive users.

    • I need to ensure our executive reporting is consistent over time.

Solution
  • The Visier People Data Model is designed to reflect the latest state of all data submitted to it, in order to serve the most relevant answers to users’ business questions.

  • In order to preserve historical data, the sample applications use Visier public APIs to replicate the data as it is received. 

  • Users can create visualizations, dashboards, and data narratives using the replicated metrics to ensure consistency over time.

How it Works
  • Using integrations and APIs, consolidate people, work, and pay data into Visier’s People Data Model. Visier has integrations to a number of source systems such as HCM (Workday, etc), work systems (ServiceNow and Salesforce, etc) to make getting started easy.

  • With Studio, admins can extend the Visier People Data Model by creating overlays to store the replicated data. With the sample code hosted in Visier's GitHub (linked below), admins can extract the right metric values from the latest data submission and use Visier's APIs to intake the data as an overlay.

  • Using the Analytics Suite admins can create visualizations using metrics derived from the target overlay to display the historical “first-run” metric values to end users who need to see it.

  • Automate this sample application through a job scheduler, such as Cron.
